    Organization of the Board of Trustees of the Town of Medford, in Jackson County, and State of Oregon.

    Pursuant to Notice duly given, the Board of Trustees met at the Office of J. S. Howard Esqr. on the 28th day of March, A D 1885, for the purpose of effecting an organization.

    The meeting was called to order and Dr. E. P. Geary chosen temporary chairman.

    Whereupon the Board proceeded to a permanent organization, by electing J. S. Howard, as their President.

    The President announced the Board duly Organized and ready for business.

    On Motion--The Recorder read the Act, Incorporation of the Town of Medford.

    On Motion--The Articles of Incorporation were placed on file, in the office of the Recorder--

    On Motion--The Board of Trustees proceed to fix the amount of Bond required of the different Officers as follows--
Recorder's Bond $500.--
 Marshals       "      $500.--
Treasurers      "      $500.--
    Street Commission      "      $500.--                 

    On Motion--A Committee of three be appointed to draft Bylaws and Ordinances and report progress at the next meeting of the Board of Trustees.--
Whereupon the President appointed as such Committee--
    A. Childers, W. H. Barr, and E. P. Geary.--

    On Motion--The Board of Trustees do now adjourn to meet on Wednesday the 1st day of April A D 1885 at 6 Oclock P M. at the office of Rufus North.--

    The Standing rules and By-laws to govern the proceedings of the Board of Trustees of the Town of Jacksonville Oregon, Be, and are hereby adopted, as the standing rules and by-laws, to govern the proceedings of the Board of Trustees of the Town of Medford.--
    Also that the Recorder be, and is hereby authorized to secure the printing of twenty copies of said rules and by-laws.--

    The Commissioner of Streets be and is hereby required to prepare a list of all parties required to work a highway tax within the Medford Road District and also of the delinquents.--

On Motion--
    The President of the Board is hereby requested to appoint a committee of two, to secure suitable rooms for the occupancy of the Board of Trustees of the Town of Medford and to furnish the same with suitable furniture and fixtures for the accommodation of said Board, Also to procure a place for a Lock Up, or Jail, and to report to the next meeting of the Board of Trustees.--
    Whenupon A. Childers and W. H. Barr was appointed as such committee--

    On Motion--A committee on Streets be and are hereby appointed consisting of E. P. Geary and W. H. Barr--
    On Motion--A finance committee be appointment for the ensuing year when I. J. Phipps, W. H. Barr, and E. P. Geary was appointed such committee.--
    On Motion--The Recorder be and is hereby instructed to procure a book, & copy the names furnished by the Street Commissioner of persons liable to street and highway tax, and that he be instructed (the St Com) to collect such tax--

    Said committee was instructed to procure printed notices, to be served on parties who have not complied with the provisions of Ordinance No 3 of the Town of Medford--

    The Committee on Streets and Sidewalks be and are hereby authorized to fix and establish the grade on 7th street, and also the sidewalk on said street.--
On Motion
    A Committee of three be and hereby [are] appointed to procure the Printing of Ordinances. Also to be considered a standing committee for the ensuing year--

    On Motion--The Recorder be and is hereby instructed to post a list of the different committees on the walls of the Council room--
    On Motion--The appointment of Isaac Woolf by the President of the Board of Trustees a Special Policeman with the same authority as vested in the Marshal of said town of Medford be and is hereby approved by this Board, and that he be retained in said service until further notice--

    The Bill [of] Geo. W. Williams was presented, allowed and a warrant ordered drawn on the Treasurer for $92.00
    The Bill of J. S. Howard for necessaries for the Jail & a warrant authorized drawn on the town Treasurer for $12.25

    The Petition of Kenney & Wolters was presented to the Board for a License to retail Spirituous liquors in less quantities than one quart.
    On Motion the prayer of the petitioners was granted and the Recorder authorized to issue a license on compliance with the laws regulating the same.

Unfinished Business
    The committee appointed to confer with the Manager Koehler of the O&C RR Co. in relation to securing a suitable lot for the erection of a town Hall and Jail--Presented a letter from said Koehler in reply which On Motion was ordered read and placed on file and
    On Motion said committee was discharged

On Motion
    W. H. Barr be & is hereby appointed a committee of one to secure the services of Judge Prim in case a suit should be reviewed in the circuit court at the October term in which the Town of Medford is a party

On Motion
    The Board of Trustees accept the proposition of the Ladies Aid Society of the Town of Medford to construct a Sidewalk from the Depot to the School building--   
    And the Street Commissioner is hereby instructed to put down suitable crossings of planks wherever there is street crossings between the two points mentioned

On Motion--A committee of two be and are hereby appointed to confer with C. C. Beekman of Jacksonville with a view to securing certain grounds for a Park within the corporate limits of said town of Medford by purchase or otherwise
    Whereupon J. S. Howard and W. H. Barr was appointed such committee.--

On Motion--
    The Street Commissioner be and is hereby instructed to lay down a sidewalk across the alleys between W. W. Chilcott and Wm Ulrich lots on the north side of street--

On Motion--
    The Street Commissioner be and is hereby instructed to raise, or cause to be raised, the sidewalk in front of F. Hubbard's Agricultural ware room on lot 2 in block 14 on the South Side of Seventh Street--

On Motion--
    The Street Commissioner be and is hereby instructed to put in a box constructed of plank at the intersection of 7th and C Street and cover the same with gravel, so as to be in good condition for the traveling public--

On Motion--
    A. Childers & I. J. Phipps be and are hereby appointed a Committee to secure a suitable place to erect a pound, for the benefit of the town of Medford and make the necessary arrangements for enclosing the same & putting in order for occupancy--
